Week 8
In the eighth week I learned about reported speech. I understood that we use reported speech to tell what another person said, but without repeating their exact words. For example, instead of saying, “She said, ‘I am tired,’” we change it to “She said she was tired.” I practiced how to change the verb tense, the pronouns, and some time expressions when we report someone’s words, and this helped me understand the structure better.
This topic was very useful for me because reported speech appears a lot in conversations, stories, and even in news. Sometimes it can be confusing, but after the class I felt more comfortable using it. Learning reported speech helped me improve my grammar and also made me feel more confident when I want to explain what another person told me.
